Mobile Apps to Ensure Real-Time Data Delivery

Mobile Apps to Ensure Real-Time Data Delivery

The Customer

One of the world's leading information agencies which gathers, analyzes and summarizes financial, industry, market and economic data in order to publish independent and credible news and editorial content about markets, issuers, and securities.

The Challenge

The Company needed to offer their clients access to this information as a part of their real-time decision making process with the flexibility to access this data wherever and whenever they require it.

The Solution

The Company turned to EPAM - already a long-term trusted software development services partner - to develop a set of mobile applications for their clients:

  •  A portfolio centric analysis tool for iPhone, iPad, and Blackberry

This cross device application provides various textual and graphical visualizations, news and performance information related to the holdings in the user’s portfolio. The solution fully supports native multi-touch interactions with the various interfaces. The data driving these interfaces is delivered via a mobile delivery platform that is integrated within the Company’s core information infrastructure.

  • A video centric mobile news application

EPAM developed a powerful new mobile video experience, giving financial professionals access to in-depth commentary and analysis. This mobile app provides in-depth searching and supports both streaming (via RTSP) and media file downloads for content users who want to view the content in a disconnect mode. In addition to searching, users of the service can configure their areas of interest through an online account that automatically synchronizes with their mobile devices. This lets the application deliver a personalized content experience tailored to each user’s specific interests.

Technologies and Tools

  • iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android
  • iPhone SDK, Cocoa-Touch, Compact Framework, Android SDK
  • C++/C#/Objective C, Java, J2ME

The Results

The set of the mobile apps created by EPAM allowed the Company to extend their delivery footprint to mobile platforms (including the iPhone/iPad, Android and Blackberry) and helps their end users make better and faster decisions on the go.
