EPAM technology drives innovation in the travel and tourism industry
Princeton, NJ — December 23, 2002 — EPAM, a leading provider of Russian software development outsourcing services, today announced that the company's leading Content Management System has been deployed and supports the new www.lasvegas.com portal, a newly launched travel destination website representing Las Vegas.
lasvegas.com provides the most direct route to the 36 million visitors to Las Vegas annually, with content and booking capability for 140 hotels, 300 restaurants, 160 tours, 100 shows, 40 wedding chapels, 30 top spas and major golf courses. The innovative Guidebook details business travel, nightclubs by theme, sightseeing, museums, attractions, wedding and spa details, and offers recommendations on everything from "24 hours in Las Vegas" to "Honeymoons in Las Vegas." Using the latest booking engine technology, visitors can search, select and purchase accommodations, air travel, entertainment and car rental. The technology enables visitors to perform searches by hotel location and amenities, and to identify special promotions associated with their purchase.
EPAM Content Management System provides Datalex customers with a central editorial content repository for travel, hotels, entertainment, activities and destination information. EPAM's system uses a solutions approach to power Website operations including content authoring, aggregation and distribution through multiple views of the site (more on EPAM Content Management System's capabilities), allowing for maximum site performance and stability while giving individual users the ability to easily update site content.
"The new website is our way of promoting the excitement and glamour of Las Vegas as well as to bring value to city businesses through increased profits and employment," said Peter Simon, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development of the Mandalay Resort Group and founder of the re-launched site. "EPAM's Content Management System gives us the ability to easily update site content and integrates seamlessly with our booking engine to form the most consumer, supplier and operator-friendly site in travel."
EPAM's primary contribution to LasVegas.com was the implementation of a flexible Content Management System which allows for maximum site performance and stability while still allowing for up-to-the-minute feature and content updates. EPAM, working with Datalex, Stephens Media, Las Vegas Conventions and Visitors Authority and other content providers, successfully implemented an automated content import and intelligence utility which serves as the hub for all external content. This, coupled with the deep integration into the booking engine, is the platform which allows LasVegas.com to deliver on a promise of unprecedented value to online travel consumers.
"EPAM is excited and proud to be associated with LasVegas.com and believes this is a real opportunity to deliver a unique value proposition in the segment of travel software development. Eastern Europe is a proven outsourcing destination which is able to deliver large-scale mission-critical applications," said Arkadiy Dobkin, EPAM CEO. "In an increasingly global climate, LasVegas.com realized the benefits of working offshore and realized significant cost savings by doing so. We look forward to building our relationship with LasVegas.com and extending our development expertise into other outlets in this market."
