DESCRIPTION


Currently we are looking for a Prototyping Lab Manager for our Zug office to make the team even stronger.

WHO YOU ARE


You are highly motivated and organized and have experience collaborating with electrical engineers, industrial designers, and mechanical engineers to create high tolerance Alpha and Beta prototypes that are used in the development of complex electro-mechanical systems/products. You use advanced fabrication and machine tools to create prototype parts and you understand manufacturing constraints and can modify designs to suit. You have experience with designing test fixtures and running quality tests to de-risk a direction. You understand how design/prototyping teams work and can design shop systems that enable people to produce exceptional results. You have strong technical and non-technical verbal and written communications skills. You are able to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a safety program and train all users
  • Develop a prototyping skills development program for engineers
  • Set up prototype shop equipment and a supporting maintenance program
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and tooling
  • Organize and maintain machine shop equipment (metal working tools, metrology, EE lab equipment, etc.)
  • Manage a group of direct reports that are focused on mechanical and electrical prototyping
  • Work alongside mechanical and electrical engineers to develop electro-mechanical prototypes
  • Use prototyping knowledge to design prototyping approach using internal and external resources
  • Perform necessary repairs to bring prototypes up to operating specifications for testing
  • Be responsible for project related inventory management system
  • Track prototype assemblies
  • Track engineering modifications

Requirements

  • Machining- Advanced knowledge and operation of manual mills and lathes
  • Metal working- Advanced knowledge of standard machine shop equipment
  • Soldering – surface mount, including fine pitch and no-lead rework using reflow
  • SolidWorks, Microsoft Office
  • Packaging of prototypes for international travel
  • Inspection equipment/metrology
  • Creation of assembly instructions
  • Build and debug of integrated electro-mechanical prototypes
  • Team player and have demonstrated creative spirit and a knack for problem-solving
  • Curious and continually build knowledge in new technologies and skills
  • Good presentation, communication, and organization skills. You communicate effectively, and you relate well with people and build partnerships
  • Driven to document work thoroughly and communicate with technical and non-technical clients and teammates
