EPAM is hiring a Performance Engineer to help one of our Financial Services clients optimize delivery and achieve quicker time-to-market, quality engineering excellence, and higher customer satisfaction.
This position will be part of the Performance Engineering team within Quality Engineering and is responsible for providing standardized value-add testing solutions, processes and tools that deliver the highest level of service to end customers through bold innovation, focused risk management and collaborative and open culture of continuous improvement.
Unlike similar performance tester roles in other organizations, this position requires a deep understanding of architecture stacks and performance patterns – in addition to performance tools and performance testing – to understand business requirements and help architect/fine-tune systems for better performance early in the development life cycle.

What You’ll Do

  • Be a final escalation point for performance, resiliency, and scaling issues encountered in the cloud for root cause and remediation
  • Interface with Cloud Architecture, Dev, and QE to build and maintain an inventory of all ongoing cloud activities and all cloud-related road maps. This relates to not only applications but to test harnesses and utilities
  • Assess the maturity of cloud performance engineering practices by a group
  • Work with PEG management to define cloud performance engineering best practices and to adapt existing performance engineering "playbooks" to the cloud and drive the convergence of practice
  • Ensure PEG alignment with Cloud Architecture (may require negotiation and debating)
  • Generate educational materials and conduct set of trainings and mentoring seminars
  • Interact with global teams

What You Have

  • A degree in an associated field and/or other advanced certification along with significant experience
  • 8 years of experience in IT
  • 6 years of experience in performance engineering and performance testing of large-scale applications
  • 3 years of experience in performance engineering of Cloud implementations
  • Deep understanding of typical performance, scaling, and resiliency issues encountered in the cloud and how to diagnose and resolve them
  • Ability to communicate, negotiate, and debate with senior members of Dev, Infrastructure, and Architecture as needed
  • Hands-on performance engineering experience implementing at least 2 large scale application in AWS
  • Hands-on performance engineering experience implementing at least 1 application in Azure
  • Experience in the Finance industry or knowledge of financial products is a huge plus
