DESCRIPTION


Currently we are looking for a Senior KDB Developer for our Krakow office, with a strong, hands on experience in building applications using the Q programming language. You will be comfortable working on your own or with junior developers on projects that involve data modelling, architectural design and operational resilience for number of functional domains that range from collateral optimisation, liquidity stress to regulatory reporting.

ABOUT THE PROJECT


Our client is one of the largest investment banks in the world.

You will be part of a global team that is supporting business functions in all regions and work with mixture of developers that are highly experienced in KDB+ and Java. You will be one of the 2 senior devs out of a total team of 6 KDB+ developers in Pune with remaining developers located in Poland, UK and US.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for KDB+ the world’s fastest time-series database, optimized for ingesting, analyzing, and storing large amounts of structured data (using the Q Programing language)
  • Develop on-disk and in-memory solutions with streaming analytics providing smarter enterprise operational intelligence and competitive advantages
  • Solve problems that vary from high volume, low latency, scalable architecture to user analytics
  • Implement solutions and develop software components as defined by the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Installation and configuration of the KDB+ software solution
  • Partner with stakeholders to define the evaluation, technical requirements and objectives
  • Translate business requirements into designs for solutions
  • Collaborate with other global IT teams and business sponsors
  • Provide recommendations regarding the technical specifications of the hardware
  • Define data schema’s and data storage mechanisms
  • Connect KDB+ software to internal and external data feeds
  • Design of instruction engines, strategy back-testing engines and reporting applications
  • Produce secure, stable and scalable code
  • Development of loader scripts in Q
  • Construction of low latency queries in the Q language
  • Interface work associated with other in-house applications
  • Technical benchmarking of the Q queries and data capture insert rates
  • Test and integrate components into larger subsystems
  • Provide developer support in case of incidents to our frontline support teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field
  • Solid software development experience using Q
  • Strong financial industry experience in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting a broad range of mission critical data and trading systems across front, middle, and back-office operations
  • Strong understanding of market and reference data
  • Shell scripting experience
  • Comfortable working closely with the business and have the ability to quickly understand their needs
  • Ability to work under pressure and stick to demanding delivery timelines
