The primary responsibility of the Integration Controller is to support the Legal Entity Controllers in Europe throughout the ongoing integration activities to ensure a smooth transition into EPAM Finance framework without business interruption, finance processing or compliance issues. In this capacity, the Integration Controller will work closely with the respective Entity or Regional Controllers, the Finance Integration PM, and other Integration leads in the Global Shared Services Center (SSC) and other functional stakeholders (i.e., Tax/Intercompany, HR, Legal, etc.), as necessary.

As a key member of the European Controller Organization, the role is an important contributor mainly throughout the integration process, starting with documentation reviews and pre-integration planning all the way through till post integration open items management and completion. This role is expected to proactively stay informed of M&A Due Diligence progress/findings and deal structuring to understand impact to the acquired entities post-close and inform Controlling workstream integration activities and post-integration optimization. This position is key in understanding the acquired entity’s business and finance operating models, understanding acquired Finance personnel and local financials, assessing the complexity and risk, critical areas of planned integration activities in joint efforts with the respective Legal Entity Controllers and other integration stakeholders/SMEs. The role will stay closely apprised of progress within the different finance integrations streams in order monitor potential impact to entity financials; identify potential issues or concerns and ensure timely resolution with the involved teams; oversee Shared Service process transitions for compliance; consult with Shared Services to make Finance/Controlling decisions and own the Controlling integration step plan and its execution. The Integration Controller will work closely with the Finance Integration PM and Legal Entity Controllers during the whole process to ensure full alignment on deliverables and expectations.


  • Gain good understanding of:
    • EPAM Finance operating model, internal policies and processes both for US-GAAP reporting and statutory compliance
    • EPAM supporting systems and their interrelation, dependencies
    • Overall integration approach, key functions and stakeholders
    • Support other ad-hoc projects in the European Controller organization
  • Work with pre-Close deal team and Controllers to understand the target entity’s background, due diligence findings, business expectations and integration activities/timelines
  • Review important deal documentation relevant for finance integration process from Controllership point of view, prepare exec summary for review with Controller
  • Work closely with the Controllers and Finance Integration teams in integration planning, as much as allowed in pre-close timeline
  • Gain understanding of acquired company Finance resourcing and immediate post-close financial reporting requirements; propose short-term and long-term staffing needs to Controller and Finance Integration team
  • Participate in regular integrations calls to stay apprised of progress/status of integration planning and execution activities throughout each post-close phase (e.g., Planning, Discovery, Process/System Mapping, Process Transition, Cutover Preparation, Post-Cutover Enablement, Post-Integration Optimization)
  • Oversee, manage, and control the monthly interim reporting process during the integration period between acquired teams and EPAM Shared Services to ensure timely and accurate interim closures, such as:
    • Overseeing generic reporting package requirements, GL mapping, interim posting process / entry layout, acquisition close calendar; with Finance Integration lead, assist in defining efficient/effective monthly close communication protocol between involved teams
    • Translate Due Diligence findings and Integration Discovery findings into deal-specific monthly reporting requirements to comply with US GAAP reporting
    • Manage tracking of adjustments and resolution of root cause issues in current and/or future close periods
    • Ensure acquired teams receive “pass-back” transactions for local books that are sourced from EPAM ERP during the pre-cutover integration period and maintain local books accordingly
  • Keep Finance Integration team informed of resolved/expected adjustments or issues that may impact management reporting and deal performance indicators; keep Controllers informed of such that may impact local books/statutory reporting (if not covered in Stat to GAAP procedures)
  • Support the monthly Stat to GAAP analysis to understand local financials and posted US-GAAP adjustment in SAP and timely discuss results with the Controllers to ensure accuracy of reported Trial Balance
  • Participate in Integration Discovery sessions with Finance Integration and Shared Service teams to gain an understanding of the Finance operating model, major processes/systems of target entity, and dependencies with financial reporting/accounting
  • Drive risk assessment activities to inform integration priorities, interim (pre-integration) control requirements and design, etc
  • Get familiar with the purchase accounting entries and related documentation, follow-up on changes as necessary; work with External Reporting & Technical Accounting team to understand Purchase Accounting checklist and memo
  • Review the process walkthroughs, gap assessments, integration program, and other deliverables prepared by other finance integration workstreams or other functions (i.e., People, Legal, etc.), participate in related calls as necessary
  • Define Statutory compliance related processes, Controlling integration workstream, and timelines in agreement with the Controllers
  • Work with other related finance workstreams through execution of their integration plans as it relates to Controlling responsibilities (i.e., accounting/payroll/tax outsource provider transitions, local legal and tax advice, statutory/tax filings, documentation compliance/retention, legal entity inventory/rationalization procedures)
  • Timely report on status, issues/concerns to the respective Controllers. Follow-up on agreed action items
  • Investigate any specific area of concern as per agreement with the Controllers
  • Actively follow-up on open items post-integration cutover / enablement and drive timely resolution
  • If applicable and with responsible Controller/RM, assist acquired Finance personnel in their transition to the Controllers team; be secondary point of contact in navigating Shared Service and Controlling organizations
  • Work closely with other integration stakeholders/SMEs to identify further issues/concerns post-integration
  • Drive the Statutory compliance related process implementation / optimization
  • Ensure that a proper decommissioning of legacy finance systems and documentation archive is in place
  • Evaluate the integration process from Controllership perspective, identify lessons learned and provide feedback to Shared Service Leads, Finance Integrations team, and cross-functional teams to continuously improve the process


  • Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum 6-8 years working experience in the field of Accounting or Audit at a multinational company, previous experience in M&A, Finance integration of acquired companies or transformation projects highly preferred
  • Understanding of IFRS / US-GAAP accounting standards, parallel ledger set-ups and related control environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to identify, prioritize, communicate issues and create and execute action plans for resolution
  • Strong communicational skills, ability to interact in a constructive manner to drive results, build and maintain good working relationship with other teams
  • High integrity standards and reliability
  • Strong analytical and IT skills (preferable SAP, ERP, MS-Office)
  • Ambitious, polished, highly articulate and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral)
