Dear EPAMers, Customers and Partners,
The last weeks have been unlike anything that we’ve collectively experienced. It’s hard to believe how different the world is today compared to just a month ago.
Even then, we were working with our colleagues in APAC to understand the impact of a new virus. That virus has now become the COVID-19 global event. Since January, we’ve taken many important decisions to align EPAM to the new global operating environment, including significant steps to ensure the safety and well-being of more than 38,000 EPAMers, and our continued operations for hundreds of clients around the world.
This event is fast moving, and any attempts to predict its resolution and return to business as usual, have proven premature. So while the environment is very unpredictable, we know that we have a lot of work ahead of us in the months to come.
As of today, I’m glad to share that the vast majority of EPAM is set up to work from home, and many in our APAC locations are back to working safely from our and our customers’ offices. Our ability to quickly react to the event is a direct result of the ongoing efforts to build, test and scale company and customer business continuity plans, and to enable an adaptive and secure people, project and learning infrastructure.
Now we need to make this new way of working reliable and productive at scale. Doing so will enable us to stand up this important capability as a permanent part of our global delivery model and ensure that we remain the best integrated services provider in a new and increasingly digital economy.
We face escalating pressures and disruptions to ‘business as usual’ from this unprecedented event, including responses from governments all over the world that are meant to control the spread of the virus. However, we believe that this challenge, like others we’ve successfully managed in the past, will help us become closer as a global community, more resilient as an organization, and ultimately, a much stronger company.
EPAM’s 25+ year history is unique. We were born out of an opportunity to bring software engineering expertise to the world from Central and Eastern Europe, and did so with a level of agility and transparency never seen before. Over the years, we’ve helped hundreds of customers navigate multiple waves of change by bringing together our Engineering DNA with integrated design and consulting capabilities.
Our community is vast, encompassing over 30 countries and 150+ cities. Engaging with our extended communities through education and innovation programs has always been a big part of our story. And today’s challenge presents a unique opportunity for us to mobilize as a global team, and help fight the COVID-19 pandemic by donating work and other resources as well as contributing real, open source solutions to support the tens of thousands of people on the front lines of local relief efforts.
So, despite the difficulties ahead, we are confident that together, we will emerge from this challenge successfully, and that we will be stronger, fitter and more ready than ever, to deliver Results. Relentlessly.
