Aberdeen Group Chooses EPAM to Represent Best Practices in Offshore Outsourcing

Princeton, NJ — September 1, 2002 — EPAM Systems, Inc., a U.S. software services supplier with development facilities in Minsk, Belarus and Moscow, Russia, was named by Aberdeen Group, a leading market analysis and positioning services firm, as one of the most compelling examples of successful offshore service delivery for its special report on "Best Practices in Offshore Outsourcing" released on September 4, 2002.

The Aberdeen Group selected EPAM Systems, along with 14 other service providers, for its implementation of a complex ecommerce website for West Group, part of the Thomson Corporation. The site was built from the ground up using proven server, search, e-commerce and customer self-service technology to create an exceptional customer experience. The project was singled out for its ecommerce focus and collaborative nature.

The report points out that, "Although legacy application migration, enhancement, and management services constitute a significant majority of offshore outsourcing projects, the number of Web development and other complex application initiatives in the sector is increasing." Nevertheless, as West Group and EPAM's experience illustrates, these hurdles can be overcome, given the right combination of planning, collaborative processes, and technical and project management skills on the part of both the client and service supplier."
