DESCRIPTION


EPAM systems UK is looking for an experienced Lead Systems Engineer with a strong technical background in different areas of modern technology stacks. We are looking for a highly motivated, self-directed technologist with experience delivering digital platforms. The successful candidate should be a self-motivated expert in a wide range of technologies, have a “can-do” attitude, be capable of multitasking and working under high pressure. The ideal candidate would also have a good understanding of Agile methodology and popular Agile frameworks, such as Scrum and Kanban. Experience in managing teams of 3+ engineers is a must.

The role is open from 29th March 2019 to 27th April 2019.

RESPONSIBILITY



Successful candidate will be playing a key role in a variety of projects which required knowledge and hands-on expertise in different modern technologies, including but not limited to: Public Clouds, DevOps and Automation tools, Configuration management tools, Infrastructure as a code framework, modern relational and non-relational database management systems, and other. Candidate’s main responsibility will be creating, maintaining and supporting modern automated, high-available, resilient, repeatable, supportable end to end solutions in public, private and hybrid clouds using best practices and industry standards in DevOps and Cloud architecture. As a Lead Systems Engineer, successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of 5+ DevOps engineers, introducing, advocating and maintaining Agile and DevOps processes on the project, mentoring and educating his team, participating in daily customer-facing meetings, building relations with customer engineering teams and representing EPAM’s technical excellence. Strong soft skills is a must.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in IT in total
  • Has experience leading a team of engineers (3+ people)
  • Is a DevOps evangelist
  • Is an open-minded, helpful, flexible, open and honest professional
  • Has experience creating high-quality designs, with technical and project documentation
  • Has experience and understanding of multiple operating systems (e.g Windows, Linux, VMWare) and processes (e.g Change Control)
  • Has excellent scripting skills in at least one of these languages: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Javascript
  • Is comfortable with a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
  • Has considerable knowledge in modern network technologies
  • Has at least one of the following certifications: GCP Certified Architect Professional, MSCA, AWS Certified Architect Associate/Professional
  • Has experience designing, implementing and maintaining solutions in at least two of the main public clouds: GCP, AWS, Azure, Alibaba
  • Capable of building and maintaining CI/CD solutions both in cloud and on premises using modern DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, TeamCity, CircleCI, Nexus, SonarQube, Container Registry, etc
  • Has experience implementing multiple branching strategies: GitFlow, Centralized, Hybrid, Trunk based development etc
  • Has experience implementing multiple release and deployment strategies
  • Has hands-on experience implementing Infrastructure as Code solutions in cloud and on premises using modern IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Cloud Deployment Manager etc
  • Has hands-on experience in implementing Configuration Management solutions in cloud and on premises using modern CM tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet
  • Has expertise in modern containers and virtualization technologies and tools such as VMWare, Docker, Docker Swarm, Docker Compose, Kubernetes
  • Has a deep understanding of security policies and implementing solutions that satisfy the security requirements
  • Experience with continuous builds & deployments as well as continuous integration, log collection and analysis, and performance monitoring/tuning
  • Has strong professional experience programming in Python or a similar language as needed in fully-automated DevOps environment, as well as extensive experience reviewing code in that language

Nice to have

  • ITIL certified
  • Proven expertise in developing various infrastructure solutions including Public Cloud e.g. GCP and AWS as well as datacenter / private cloud to deliver high availability, rapidly developed, fully automated solutions using predominately open source software
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of your time
  • Ability to learn new technologies, practices or/and techniques in a short time and under high pressure
  • Experience in driving Agile delivery
  • Experience in customer engagement
  • Has an additional one of the following certifications: GCP Certified Architect Professional, MSCA, AWS Certified Architect Associate/Professional
