DESCRIPTION


Our customer is an American investment management firm. It serves approximately 350 of the largest and most sophisticated global institutional clients including public and corporate pension funds, university endowments, charitable foundations, supranational agencies, sovereign wealth funds, and central banks. By having the deepest possible understanding of the global economy and financial markets and translating that understanding into great portfolios and strategic partnerships with institutional clients, they have built a distinct track record of success. They’ve done this for more than 40 years by having great people operate in a culture of radical truth and radical transparency.

We are currently building a team of engineers with an analytical background whose area of responsibility could be collectively called as DataOps.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the delivery of Macro-economic datasets for over 200 countries (Flow of Funds, BOP, BIS, GDP, CPI, PPI, Industrial Production, etc.) and data from Providers
  • Coordinate and organize data delivery process leveraging Data Operations and Data Analysis teams
  • Institute a process of metadata mapping: tooling, validation
  • Assist the team in understanding provider/source metadata
  • Assist the team in deriving metadata implied from data
  • Supervise and manage Data QA
  • Organize Production data support process and be the first line of support for client’s questions regarding data
  • Establish the process of monitoring Production data for quality and consistency
  • Supervise and guide Data QA team in testing Platform ability to handle what-of data scenarios
  • Come up with requirements for software tools to improve Data QA and data lifecycle transparency

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in running Data teams that manage multiple macro-economic databases
  • Knowledge of data quality and data consistency issues around Macro and Market Data
  • Good understanding of how Economic Events/Corporate Actions/Market Events impact data
  • Manage relationships with third party data providers
  • Experience managing remotely located team
  • Knowledge of Project and Process Management
  • Sense of Ownership
  • Knowledge of anomalies that may exist in macro-economic or market data
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to keep up with technical discussions
  • Strong writing & verbal communication skills - ability to be the voice of the team
  • Focus on getting things done
  • Appreciation for the contribution of individuals. Ability to optimize the team's performance
  • Hands-on experience in the implementation of quality gates and quality measures for the development process
  • Flexibility in ways of thinking about how to achieve project goals
  • Ability to Identifies opportunities and drive change
  • Ability to explain estimates and prove they are correct
  • Upper-intermediate or higher English level (B2+), both written and spoken
