DESCRIPTION


Currently we are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer with 7+ years of experience who is interested in joining a variety of new product development programs for electromechanical – often medical – systems, and in helping to build our new hardware engineering business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative and robust solutions to complex problems, and your skills demonstrate a broad base of practical knowledge in mechanical design and manufacturing, but you have the ability to ‘go theoretical’ to attain the necessary results
  • Learn and adapt with creativity. You are energetic and passionate about solving problems and may even lead others to innovate
  • Seek to understand the big picture while also being thorough about the details
  • Able to orchestrate a team to achieve real results including technical project management through continuous communication with internal design and engineering personnel as well as external prototyping and manufacturing vendors
  • Communicate effectively, with impact and influence others positively
  • Able to build partnerships and provide feedback that helps develop your associates

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited engineering program
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Experienced to expert level 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks)
  • Strong background with various manufacturing processes
  • Experience designing and executing proof-of-concept prototypes through integrated alpha designs
  • Strong theoretical mechanical engineering background
  • Dimension and tolerance study
  • Ability to speak with prospective clients and convey strengths of group
  • Ability to develop a project schedule with realistic timelines, resourcing, and granular feature set

Nice to have

  • Design for manufacturing including injection molding, sheet metal, structural frame and machining
  • Maintenance of manufacturing files and databases per internal design control procedures
  • Material research and selection
  • Electromechanical system design
  • Systems engineering
  • Ability to use thermal analysis and flow simulation tools
  • Deep knowledge in statistics and data analysis
  • Applied safety standards, IEC-61010, IEC-60601 or equivalent
  • Ability to write clearly and effectively for proposals, promoting skills of the department in technical and non-technical areas
  • Ability to manage and communicate risk as it relates to the project timeline
  • Ability to interview, hire, and manage contractors
  • Driven to document thoroughly and facilitate work-product re-integration within our clients’ organizations and external manufacturing partners
