Over the last four years, he has transformed his career from a Service Delivery Manager into a strategic leader, now serving as the Head of Azure in Romania.

From Delivery to Strategy

When Ștefan joined EPAM four years ago, he stepped into a critical role as a Service Delivery Manager for a key client in the financial sector. It was a position that required precision, agility and a deep understanding of client needs. However, Ștefan quickly realized that his potential at EPAM extended beyond a single job description.

What followed was a rapid evolution through roles that expanded his scope and influence. He transitioned from Project Manager to Program Manager and Delivery Manager, with each step bringing new opportunities to lead agile teams using frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.

Motivation has always been my engine,” Ștefan says. “I constantly challenge myself to do more, learn more and perform better than I did yesterday. Combined with a strong work ethic and perseverance, this mindset has helped me grow and achieve results that wouldn’t be possible through talent alone.”

Defining Scalability in Practice

As Ștefan’s leadership responsibilities grew, so did the technical complexity of the projects under his guidance. Today, leading over 30 professionals across DevOps, Cloud Engineering and Solution Architecture, his focus has shifted to the forefront of cloud technology.

In the industry, "scalability" is often a buzzword, but for Ștefan’s teams, it is a daily engineering reality.

You can read about high-availability zones or disaster recovery strategies in a manual,” Ștefan notes, “but implementing them for a client with millions of end-users is where the real learning happens.”

His teams are responsible for architecting solutions that support global enterprises operating 24/7. This involves the intricate work of untangling legacy monoliths and transforming them into resilient, cloud-native microservices architectures on Azure.

The technical ecosystem at EPAM is vast, and Ștefan’s engineers are not just executing tasks — they are problem-solvers. They dive deep into Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, orchestrate complex container environments via Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and design robust CI/CD pipelines that automate deployment without sacrificing security.

By tackling these high-complexity environments, the Solution Architects and DevOps Engineers under his guidance don’t just maintain systems — they evolve them.

Becoming a leader felt very natural for me,” he recalls. “I was already acting in that role before officially stepping into it. Through dedication and consistently taking on extra responsibilities, I grew into the position. What truly motivated me was the opportunity to contribute to people’s growth and help them reach their potential.”
