Setting a New Standard for the Insurance Industry
In 2024, Swiss Re Institute was looking to overhaul its legacy data platform due to outdated infrastructure and fragmentation. In search of a modern solution, Swiss Re turned to EPAM for our proven expertise in data transformation and proprietary agentic AI platforms and tools. The goal was to develop a future-ready foundation that would not only replace the legacy system but enhance data exploration capabilities for its clients and users across the organization.
EPAM’s team of engineers, designers and consultants embedded themselves within Swiss Re’s organization to ideate, validate and deliver the new Sigma Explorer, a groundbreaking data platform powered by AI and Microsoft technologies.
The solution includes three core pillars: searchable publications for effortless navigation, a data set explorer for customized data sets and visualizations, and an AI-powered chatbot to assist users. Integration of EPAM DIAL, part of AI/Run™.Tools, enhanced the portal’s AI capabilities, unlocking advanced features and providing a seamless user experience.
To further enhance the capabilities of Sigma Explorer, we worked with Swiss Re to leverage our deep Microsoft expertise and integrate several Microsoft technologies into the platform including Power BI, Azure Data Factory and Power Automate. Power BI enabled interactive visualizations embedded directly into the portal and automated dataset exporting to significantly reduce data modeling efforts. Azure Data Factory helped to facilitate the initial migration and integration of complex datasets, while Power Automate orchestrated data publication workflows, automating updates and ensuring timely delivery of insights.
