A global video game publisher engaged EPAM to build a scalable solution to test its online infrastructure under high load generated by intense online activities of millions of players. Our team developed, launched and provided ongoing support for a QA bots integration testing solution, which enabled load testing for 100K+ bots that simulate real players’ behavior.

100,000 QA Bots for Game Testing

A leading video game publisher wanted to build a unified set of services that allow players to find friends and play together, communicate and share inventory. To do this successfully, the gaming leader needed a solution emulating real players' behavior to test its matchmaking and existing online features of the gaming ecosystem under high load. The company turned to EPAM because of our deep understanding of the gaming industry and diverse engineering expertise.

This project required a fusion of different capabilities — Unreal Engine, Unity, C++, back-end services, cloud engineering, testing automation and AI — and our team had experience in all those areas.

In just five months, EPAM helped the client efficiently test at scale, simulating 100,000 concurrent users with a universal QA bot swarm that leverages the existing Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure. This allowed the company to elevate online game performance and user experience, while providing a cost-effective and optimized solution for high-load testing.

For our client, having a high-load integrated testing solution with QA bots provides greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness at scale. All this while ensuring a testing experience that is as close to having real users as possible.
