In a country analysis of the global AI Report, EPAM Systems Inc. examined the current status quo of artificial intelligence (AI) in Germany: maturity, applications, investments, and profit expectations for AI use in large companies.
How far has AI really come in large German companies? A new country analysis of the global AI Report by EPAM Systems paints a nuanced picture: While Germany ranks only in the middle in terms of overall maturity, the proportion of strategically active AI disruptors is higher here than anywhere else. Based on a survey of 856 executives in companies with more than 10,000 employees, the study analyzes maturity levels, fields of application, investments, and business results related to the use of AI in the German economy.
Maturity level: Germany tops the list for disruptors
In an international comparison, Germany ranks in the middle in terms of overall maturity. But one detail stands out: at 8.41 percent, Germany has the highest proportion of so-called “disruptors” – companies that use AI strategically and comprehensively. By comparison, this figure is only 4.95 percent in the US. This suggests that while many companies are still testing AI, some German companies are already establishing it as an integral part of their value creation.

Eine neue Länderauswertung des globalen AI Reports von EPAM Systems zeigt ein differenziertes Bild: Während Deutschland beim allgemeinen Reifegrad nur im Mittelfeld liegt, ist der Anteil strategisch agierender KI-Disruptoren hierzulande so hoch wie nirgendwo sonst. Auf Grundlage einer Befragung von 856 Führungskräften in Unternehmen mit mehr als 10.000 Mitarbeitern analysiert die Studie Reifegrade, Anwendungsfelder, Investitionen und Geschäftsergebnisse rund um den KI-Einsatz in der deutschen Wirtschaft.
