Senior Kafka DevOps Engineer Australia

What You’ll Do

• User Requirement Gathering:Collect user requirements to create Kafka & Confluent on Kubernetes platform as a managed service
• DevSecOps Performance: Perform development, security and operations activities for Kafka & Confluent as a managed service
• Feature Configuration: Ensure features like high availability, performance, back-up, restore, security, reliability, scalability are built into Kafka & Confluent for easy operations
• Non-Functional Aspect Definition: Define and test non-functional aspects, along with scalability and security aspects
• Monitoring Setup: Configure necessary monitoring, alerting and tracking setup for Kafka & Confluent using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, & ELK stack
• Service Consumption Management: Outline the process for end-users to access and utilize the Kafka & Confluent managed service including CI/CD deployments, training materials, documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures
• Instance Operation & Maintenance: Oversee the operational activities of Kafka & Confluent instances created by users, including service and security monitoring, incident management, troubleshooting, upgrading, and patch management
• Maintenance Response: Oversee the operational activities of Kafka & Confluent instances created by users, including service and security monitoring, incident management, troubleshooting, upgrading, and patch management
• Lifecycle Management: Handle lifecycle management, implement patches and perform version upgrades
• CI/CD Pipeline Management: Manage the creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines

What You Have

• Experience with Kafka: In-depth hands-on experience with various Kafka aspects including Broker, Connect, Stream, KSQL, Mirror-Maker, Confluent Replicator, and Schema Registry
• Kafka and Kubernetes Knowledge: Familiarity with Kafka in Kubernetes and the Confluent Operator for Kafka
• Monitoring Knowledge: Understands how to monitor Kafka platform metrics and acquainted with Java MBean
• GCP Expertise: Has experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), knowledge of Google Anthos is a plus
• Linux and Scripting Skills: Proficient in Linux administration, CI/CD, Groovy pipeline and Shell/Python scripting
