Shaping the Next Generation of Data Professionals
How EPAM and Sofia University bridge academia and industry
In technology, talent does not simply emerge – it is shaped. It grows at the intersection of academic foundations, real-world experience and the guidance of professionals who understand where the industry is heading next. In a world where artificial intelligence, big data and machine learning are redefining entire business sectors, the question is no longer whether young professionals will need to adapt, but how well prepared they are to do so.
For the past four years, EPAM Bulgaria has been working closely with the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University to support the development of the "Data Analysis" program. What began as a partnership has grown into a long-term collaboration bridging academia and industry, preparing students to join the tech workforce and shape its future.
Vagabond spoke with Vladimir Natchev, Country Head of EPAM Bulgaria, and Prof. Maya Stoyanova, Dean of the FMI about the milestones of this partnership, the qualities that define future-ready professionals and the vision for the years ahead.
