The company settled in the city in 2018 and intends to continue growing in the coming months.

Ievgen Berezenko, Spain Country Head at EPAM Systems, Inc., discusses the company, its story in Málaga and plans to strengthen its presence across Spain.

Tell us about EPAM Spain and its story in Málaga

EPAM Systems, Inc., is a leading digital transformation services and product engineering company with more than 61,000 employees worldwide. In 2018, we opened an office in Málaga to strengthen our European presence and expand our engineering capabilities in the region. In less than four years, the location grew from 50 to over 1,000 EPAMers distributed between the Málaga office and remotely across the country, in addition to employees who joined through a nearshore acquisition of Optiva Media in 2021.

EPAM Spain provides state-of-the-art digital engineering services for some of the world’s most prestigious clients in a wide variety of industries such as: financial services, travel and hospitality, life sciences and healthcare and retail. We’re looking forward to solidifying our place in Málaga by investing in the local community, attracting highly skilled talent across Spain, and helping our customers solve their most complex challenges.

What distinguishes EPAM Spain from the other 50+ delivery centers within EPAM?

Spain is a popular location with a growing tech community that attracts top-level engineering professionals seeking challenging projects. At EPAM Spain, we offer a collaborative work environment with access to a global community of highly skilled experts and unlimited career development opportunities. Our diverse office unites talent from 52 countries across the EU, CIS, LATAM and APAC—providing a friendly and supportive culture where every opinion is valued. From solving complex problems for leading brands to volunteering in the local community, EPAMers are empowered to engineer the future and make an impact.

Additionally, being a growing location, EPAM Spain provides limitless possibilities for self-motivated talents to grow their technical and managerial expertise by participating in business development initiatives, executing presales and delivering proof of concepts (PoCs) to clients.

EPAM Spain reached 1,000 employees in less than four years. What do you think this is attributed to?

EPAM Spain provides an exciting opportunity for job seekers to help engineer the future for some of the world’s leading brands. We offer limitless growth possibilities with an attractive benefits package that includes opportunities for professional upskilling, flexible and remote work options, unlimited learning resources, as well as volunteer and mentorship programs. Our people are the source of our success, which drives us to make EPAM Spain a great place to work for both local and international talent.

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without our strong management team helping EPAM Spain leverage its unique engineering capabilities with a commitment to achieving business success. I offer a heartful ‘thank-you’ to my colleagues and fellow EPAMers.

How does EPAM Spain invest in the local community?

EPAM Spain supports local IT events that bring together experts from around the world to exchange best practices and drive innovation within the local tech community. In 2022, we proudly sponsored J on the Beach in Málaga and JBCNConf in Barcelona. We look forward to making appearances at React Alicante and Global Software Architecture Summit in Barcelona.

Our staff reinvest in the community by dedicating their time to sharing technical expertise through educational activities such as EPAM University’s Online Java Academy for Juniors and the eKids program for schoolkids. We are also actively involved in social responsibility initiatives like cleaning up local parks, and a recently announced partnership with Fundación Grupo SIFU to help support people with disabilities.

What does it take to become an EPAMer and what’s next for EPAM Spain?

Our goal is to become one of Spain’s leading digital delivery organizations with thousands of tech jobs created across the country in the next few years. We invite multidisciplinary experts—talented engineers, software testers, business analysts, architects, DevOps, cloud specialists and delivery managers—to join our team. We welcome professionals of all seniority levels and any skillset including but not limited to Java, Scala, Python, .NET, and JavaScript.

La empresa se instaló en la ciudad en 2018 y pretende seguir creciendo en los próximos meses.
