ABOUT THE PROJECT


We have been building a competency center in the area of Technical Operations. Our client is one of the largest investment banks in the world.

Globally, the project team comprises a number of experts responsible for:
• Applications support,
• Automation of routine procedures,
• Continues integration and deployment,
• Site reliability,
• Operating systems, virtualization and database administration,
• Chatbot design and development.

The environment should allow mastering the skills and growing towards the area of interest.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day second-level support and monitoring of Production applications
  • Follow the ITIL incident and problem management process when an issue arises in the production environment to restore service as quickly as possible and prevent the reoccurrence of incidents
  • Diagnose system problems, define and coordinate the implementation of solutions individually and with other development and support teams
  • Implement monitoring and automation initiatives using both vendor tools, such as App Dynamics and Splunk, and custom solutions using Perl, Python, and Linux Shell scripts
  • Coordinate with different internal teams and/or external parties to conduct and manage special events, including BCP tests, infrastructure change weekends, Data Center maintenance, special trading days, or exchange-mandated market rehearsals
  • Release and deploy new code versions into the production environment
  • Define workarounds for known errors and initiate process improvements
  • Maintain a knowledge base
  • Promote the overall stability of the systems through system monitoring, proper change control management, and implementation of best practices to maintain the production environment
  • Conduct problem reviews with the relevant IT streams

Requirements

  • Must have:
    • Hands-on experience in IT second-level technical application support role
    • Solid Linux / Unix troubleshooting skills
    • Able to write SQL queries
  • Highly desirable:
    • Experience with monitoring solutions, preferably Splunk, AppDynamics, or Netcool
    • Good troubleshooting knowledge of database systems (preferably Oracle, MS SQLServer, or Sybase)
    • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Shell, Perl, or Python
    • Knowledge of automation tools like Automation Anywhere or IPcenter
    • Understanding of ETL flows (e.g. Informatica, SSIS) and experience with supporting such tools
    • Knowledge of ITIL processes (in particular the incident and problem management)
    • Familiar with support tools like ServiceNow, HPSM

Nice to have

  • Understanding of Cloud Technology. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and migrations
  • Experience and understanding of MQ/EMS technologies (Tibco/RV, MQ, JMS)
  • Experience with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Ability to configure, maintain, manage and troubleshoot web and application servers, analyze web server events (e.g. IIS, Tomcat, Weblogic)
  • Familiar with network (TCP/IP) aspects
  • Job scheduling software like AutoSys, Windows scheduler
  • Has worked on Jenkins, Jira, Maven, GitHub, Elastic Search, Apache Kafka, Machine Learning
